The big break came two years later with her role as the lead character Vada who was a young girl within Madison, Pennsylvania in the 1970s, on the film "My Girl." The ensemble also featured Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis as well as fellow child actor Macaulay Culkin. Chlumsky's role was reprised in 1994's "My Girl 2" featuring Austin O'Brien replacing Culkin.
