Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21, 1983) is a well-known American actress. Particularly, she played Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio, she quit high school and moved to Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first part as Rachel's Room's main character the video on-demand series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford, the character she played in Lost between 2004 and 2005, was selected for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the television series in the year 2005, to take on a more significant role in film, appearing alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in the film Taken. She appeared as Kim Mills opposite Liam Neeson (both in Taken in 2008) in Suburban Girl and the Jane Austen Book Club. In 2008, she reprised the role Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice as Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is an updated version from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was Shannon once more in the show's final episode and two other episodes. In 2013, she appeared in the sixth season of Californication. She is Faith an actress who is a muse for celebrities and attracts the attention of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She is part of Gyllenhaal's family, and is the older sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager, she played small parts in films made by her father. She also co-starred with her older sister in Donnie Darko the cult classic. Later, she was as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her leading roles in Secretary (2002, erotic romantic drama), and Sherrybaby (606) and Sherrybaby (606) that earned their Golden Globe Award nods. She appeared in several commercially successful movies including World Trade Center. However, it was her role in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her wider attention in The Dark Knight (2008). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child received her a nomination for an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. After that she was able to play in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (12). Her other roles included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013, action thriller), actors in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to The Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
