Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become a professional actor from the age of at the age of six. She attended Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school which offers classes for part-time students. In a school play and a Stagecoach show, she took her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent through her Oxford drama teacher.
